East Belfast DUP MLA Robin Newton, a member of the Employment and Learning Committee, has charged DEL Minister Reg Empey of being in a mess regarding educational courses for immigrants. 

EAST Belfast DUP Councillor and MLA Robin Newton has said “It is only by the Grace of Almighty God that the fire on the 10th floor of this his rise NIHE apartment block did not result in a loss of life. 

East Belfast DUP MLA Robin Newton has responded to the publication of a report presented to the DRD Minister, Conor Murphy suggesting that there should not to be a light rail system for Belfast, but rather that a bus system would best suit the city’s needs. Mr. Newton urged the Minister to consider both options very carefully before making any final decision.

East Belfast DUP MLA Robin Newton has said that the Victoria Square project should act as a model of best practice for private enterprise and local government working in co-operation. Mr. Newton commented on the close working relationship between Belfast City Council and MDC, the developers behind Victoria Square, and urged similar networks to be formed in the future.

 

East Belfast DUP MLA Robin Newton said protecting the health and safety of the children in East Belfast’s Ravenscroft Nursery School and the Cathedral Nursery School in the Lower Falls must be the priority as this young child is identified as being ill and suffering from an E.coli 0157 infection.

 

EAST Belfast DUP MLA Robin Newton, a member of the Assembly’s Enterprise Trade and Investment Committee, said he was shocked on reading a response to a written question (AQW No: 4361/08) from Economy Minister Nigel Dodds to learn that the textiles and clothing sector had declined to an employment level of only 3000 employees.

DUP East Belfast MLA Robin Newton welcomed the news that Belfast now ranks above Amsterdam, Edinburgh and Zurich in terms of bed occupancy rates for hotels and stated that this “demonstrates the changed times we have in Northern Ireland”.

East Belfast DUP MLA Robin Newton has expressed dissatisfaction regarding the lack of progress in tackling the homeless levels in the east of the city and described the situation as intolerable.

Northern Ireland’s unionist community has some appreciation of the terrorist problems facing the people of Israel. Israel’s Government is daily facing rocket attacks from Hamas terrorists based in Gaza with over ninety rockets landing in southern Israel since 28 February; these daily strikes don’t make the news headlines.

East Belfast DUP MLA Robin Newton, in responding to figures supplied by the Minister for Regional Development, Conor Murphy, said the increasing number of passengers on the Belfast to Bangor line presented an opportunity to increase convenience levels for customers and passengers at the new bulk retailing stores at the Holywood Exchange and the George Best Belfast City Airport.
