Newton Responds to Transport Report Publication

East Belfast DUP MLA Robin Newton has responded to the publication of a report presented to the DRD Minister, Conor Murphy suggesting that there should not to be a light rail system for Belfast, but rather that a bus system would best suit the city’s needs. Mr. Newton urged the Minister to consider both options very carefully before making any final decision.

Victoria Square Project Provides Lessons of Best Practice

Mr. Newton commented on the close working relationship between Belfast City Council and MDC, the developers behind Victoria Square, and urged similar networks to be formed in the future.

Health and Safety of Nursery School Children must be the Priority

East Belfast DUP MLA Robin Newton said protecting the health and safety of the children in East Belfast’s Ravenscroft Nursery School and the Cathedral Nursery School in the Lower Falls must be the priority as this young child is identified as being ill and suffering from an E.coli 0157 infection.

Run Down of Textiles Industry Accelerating

EAST Belfast DUP MLA Robin Newton, a member of the Assembly’s Enterprise Trade and Investment Committee, said he was shocked on reading a response to a written question (AQW No: 4361/08) from Economy Minister Nigel Dodds to learn that the textiles and clothing sector had declined to an employment level of only 3000 employees.

Israel’s Government is daily facing rocket attacks from Hamas terrorists based in Gaza with over ninety rockets landing in southern Israel since 28 February; these daily strikes don’t make the news headlines.

Newton Calls on DRD Minister to Build Rail Link at Holywood Exchange

East Belfast DUP MLA Robin Newton, in responding to figures supplied by the Minister for Regional Development, Conor Murphy, said the increasing number of passengers on the Belfast to Bangor line presented an opportunity to increase convenience levels for customers and passengers at the new bulk retailing stores at the Holywood Exchange and the George Best Belfast City Airport.
