Robin Newton said,
“It is vital that the review of planning finds in favour of creating of system better suited to the needs of economic development, and assisting, rather than suppressing those with entrepreneurial spirit that is so desperately required.
These are economically difficult and challenging yet also exciting times in Northern Ireland with projects in the pipeline, both large, infrastructure-led and innovative SME-driven projects. It is these which will help us emerge from the downturn, and the planning service has a key role to play.
By making their opinions clear, business owners and managers will have a clear say in how the system can work in the future to help them. They are the job creators, they are the economic drivers and it is they who must be listened to, in the task to create a more efficient and streamlined system.
The consultation will end in October, and I appeal for a strong number of businesses to make their voices heard."
