Newton Calls For Handyvan Take Up

E-mail Print
ROBIN Newton East Belfast DUP MLA has appealed for the elderly in East Belfast to contact their local Help the Aged and make use of the Handyvan scheme, which aims to improve the security of pensioners in their home. Robin Newton said,

“The Handyvan scheme helps to improve the home security of our pensioners by ‘the provision and fitting of security and safety equipment.

This is done free of charge.

It raises the standard of protection for our elderly neighbours, and improves their confidence as a result.

Every one of us has a duty to look out for our elderly neighbours, to report suspicious behaviour and check with them regularly to ensure they are safe.

They too have a role to play, by remaining observant and conscious of storing their valuables safely.

As the winter months approach I urge the elderly, and their relatives, to ensure their property is properly secured and send a clear message to the criminals that we are taking every measure to thwart their activities”.
