ROBIN Newton East Belfast DUP MLA has expressed shock and major concerns on learning that a mother of three young children, currently studying in higher level education has been charged with being in passion of £90,000 of cannabis.

Robin Newton said,

“It is very worrying that someone studying for a PhD qualification at Queen’s University, one of the UKs most prestigious universities would be in procession of such a huge amount of illegal drugs.

This mature student and mother-of three children having this large cache of drugs in her East Belfast home will arouse suspicions of a major drug dealing operation being involved.

This is a very alarming discovery by the PSNI and since the charge is about intent to supply drugs many parents right across the community will be concerned for their young children and teenagers.

There are likely to be other aspects to this case. The public should be vigilant and support the police totally in their efforts to drive drugs out of the community.”
