ROBIN Newton East Belfast DUP MLA AND Belfast City Councillor has said the Tall Ships event will be a welcome boost to the City’s economy and good for the image of Northern Ireland as a whole.

Robin Newton said,

“This event has been many years in the planning and is a terrific tourist attraction and will help the shops, hotels and restaurants of the city at this time of economic difficulty.

It is also a good morale boost for Northern Ireland and doesn’t even need good weather, although some sunshine would be welcome, to make it a first-class attraction worth visiting.

Given the amount of other events associated with the occasion including street entertainment, the continental market, funfair and live music Belfast is set for a few days that are likely to remain special in the minds of all who visit the city.

This a family orientated few days and with an estimated 4000,000 visitors to Belfast will undoubtedly set the cash registers ringing and will create a win, win event for all concerned.”
