Newton Welcomes Prompt PSNI Action
Robin Newton East Belfast DUP MLA has welcomed the prompt action of the PSNI in the arrest of a 21 year old man following today’s dreadful rape case.
Robin Newton said,
“Often the public are critical of the PSNI in the follow-up actions when a serious crime has been committed.
The rape of a young girl on the Newtownards Road early today was a horrific crime and the very quick performance in making an arrest must be welcomed.
There is obviously enough evidence and concern by the investigating officers to make the arrest, to take an individual into custody and inform the public about the detention of the suspect.
The police will need all the help they can get from the public. I am appealing to anyone who has any information or even a suspicion to assist the PSNI so that whoever is guilty of this despicable attack is put behind bars.”
