ROBIN Newton East Belfast DUP MLA and a member of the Policing Board has expressed his disgust following the racist attacks on a family in East Belfast’s Heatherbell Street.
Robin Newton said,
“These attacks are very worrying and they paint a very negative image of East Belfast. This man and wife are making a positive contribution to our society and deserve to be left in peace to get on with their lives.
The nature of the ongoing attacks on his car and his home are likely to cause fear to anyone. Hover with a young child in the home it is shocking even to think about what could happen in such a the situation.
Those who carry out such attacks do not represent the good people of East Belfast. The east of the city is made up of warm hearted people who can be trusted and relied upon to provide support for their neighbours and to help those in difficulty. The thugs who carry out attacks on vulnerable families do not represent this community.
I am appealing to anyone who can assist the police in their investigations to do so and help bring these attacks to an end”.
