Yet Another East Belfast Robbery With Threat Of Violence

ROBIN Newton East Belfast DUP MLA, a member of the Policing Board, has said yet again a small East Belfast business on the Belmont Road has been robbed. Robin Newton said,
“Just last week I attended a meeting of the Policing Board’s Partnership Committee regarding business crime. I raised the matter of local businesses in the east of the city being hit hard with these types of opportunistic robberies. The business community needs to feel confident that the police are taking these crimes seriously.  Communication between the PSNI and local businesses needs to be improved and those who suffer the crimes need to know about progress on the case.
The business community across East Belfast has endured a spate of robberies and staff can be left in a state of stress having been subjected to threats of violence.
For small business owners it can be a struggle to keep the doors open. Thieves taking money and stock makes business survival even more difficult and may result in a business pulling down the shutters for a final time.
The PSNI need help from the public to put those responsible for the robberies behind bars. Anyone who can help should ring the police 101 number even if they have only the smallest piece of information.”
