Newton Condemns Knife Wielding Thug

East Belfast DUP MLA and Policing Board member, Robin Newton has described the knife wielding thief who robbed a Bloomfield Avenue small business as having no regard for those who were threaten by his thuggish behaviour.

Robin Newton said

"This is another robbery of a small East Belfast business. Many local traders are under pressure given today's economic circumstances and the financial cost of such robberies may be the difference between survival or business closure. In addition the trauma suffered by the staff can have long-lasting implications creating stress and mental health issues.

There can be no doubt the thief is someone in the locality and the PSNI will need the help of local people to put him behind bars.

If those who are prepared to arm themselves with knives are not caught it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or a fatality. I am appealing to the community to help the police by ringing the police 101 number."
