Call to Make Use of Garnerville Campus
Robin Newton east Belfast DUP Councillor and Assembly candidate in welcoming the news of a new hi-tech police training college has called for the Garnerville campus not to be left to become derelict.
Robin Newton said, "The new state of the art college to serve the PSNI, Fire Service and the Prison Service is long overdue and is deserved by the three organisations.
"However, as the new college is being developed there is a need to consider how to make use of the Garnerville site to prevent it blighting the district.
"Civilian jobs are also at risk and need to be protected and the PSNI should consider a bringing together of departments that are spread across various city wide sites onto the secure Garnerville property.
"Consolidating onto one location will help with budget savings, increase the efficiency of PSNI and release sites for potential development."
